That would probably create huge strain on the servers. Besides, obs is fine already.

Too much on the servers. If you wanted to be able to go back, just record it on your computer and then u can watch it as much as you want.
The main point of observer mode is to make sure no one is exploiting bugs or cheating. It is also to inform you of a good build, so that way not only 1 guild will be able to play sin-way and the other guild never being able to find out about it. With TiVo, you would be able to copy every single skill and every single thing... which basically makes it kind of easy to the point of cheatz!

The problem is, you can obersve matches with other people (when observe was first implimented, there would always be 10-15 random people watching any particular match). Each observer doesn't get their own instance of the match, but has to watch it with others.

There are still many random people watching observer nowadays. For example mAT playoff games get a lot of views (especially the finals), and whenever you have two top 10 guilds fight in a daily AT, usually 10-20 people show up in any given instance when the match shows up.

Only thing I think observer would benefit from would be the ability to move the camera wherever you want, instead of just being restricted to players and points on the map.
Your suggestion isn't necessary though, and would kinda ruin the idea of observer mode.

I've been suggesting this ever since I watched my first GvG. Sometimes, if I'm on vent with someone, I like to watch it with them, but I can't since syncing doesn't work for observing. Or, I'll watch a match and someone will tell me something like "See what this person did at 12:30" and I have to go watch the first 12:30 of the match, even though I'm not interested. Also, if I'm obs-ing a match, and I have to use the bathroom or have to get up for something, I can pause it instead of re-watching the first 16 minutes to get to the point I previously was at.
The only reason people are /notsigning this is because they don't watch obs mode anyway, so they don't care.
I don't see any reason not to

1. Maybe we all don't want to spend all those Megs DL-ing every match we want to watch?
2. People are going to copy builds anyway, being able to Pause/Rewind/Fast Forward isn't going to stop that.
Although, the one thing about this I did not think about was the fact that obs mode is not just you, it is more people, even though not many people observe matches anyway, unless it's the final 3 rounds or so of MAT play.
